What are veneers?
Veneers are semi-translucent, tooth-shaped shells that are bonded permanently to the front of teeth to correct and repair a wide variety of dental flaws. Most often made of porcelain, veneers are strong, durable, and aesthetically pleasing. Dr. James M. Kinney, our practiced dentist, is skilled at utilizing veneers to fix:
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Misaligned, overcrowded, or crooked teeth
- Discolored or stained teeth
- Gapped or spaced teeth
- Misshapen teeth
Our caring dental team will help you determine whether dental veneers are right for you.
How are veneers applied?
Applying dental veneers in Marietta, Georgia generally takes two visits to our dental office. During the first visit, Dr. James M. Kinney will take molds of the teeth; a dental laboratory uses these molds to create your custom-fitted veneers. Dr. James M. Kinney will also help you pick a shade of porcelain. We are able to match the veneer to your natural tooth color or lighten your entire smile by several shades. Once your veneers are created and sent back to our office, you will come in for a second visit to permanently apply them to your smile. We will gently reshape and buff your tooth to accommodate the thickness of the veneers and to prepare the tooth for a strong bond. When all the final adjustments have been made and the veneers have been checked for fit and function, we will permanently cement them into place.
