What is a dental crown?
A dental crown is a type of tooth restoration used to repair moderate to severe decay or damage. A cap or cover placed over the damaged tooth, a dental crown completely encases the tooth up to the gumline. Dr. James M. Kinney, our skilled dentist, may suggest a dental crown to:
- Treat moderate to severe tooth decay
- Hold a cracked or fractured tooth together
- Restore a broken or very worn tooth
- Anchor a dental bridge
- Support a large filling
- Strengthen a tooth with very little structure remaining
- Enhance the beauty of your smile
We offer high-quality dental crowns in Marietta, Georgia to help restore your smile to its original shape, size, and function.
How is a dental crown made?
It generally takes two visits to our dental office to make and apply a dental crown. We will take molds of your smile in order to custom make your dental crown. We will gently reshape your tooth to accommodate the size of the crown, and during the interim, a temporary crown will be put in place. Once your crown is back in your office, we will ensure the crown fits properly, and Dr. James M. Kinney will permanently cement the dental crown into place for a long-lasting solution to a damaged smile. To learn more about dental crowns, please contact us today.
